About
Margot Petrie is a French-born, Melbourne-based artist known for her sultry vocals and magnetic on-stage presence. She makes music for the after hours—shadowy, intimate, and quietly devastating. Blending downtempo songwriting with dream-pop, alternative electronic, and trip-hop influences, Margot creates a sound that is dark and immersive..
A captivating live performer, she draws on her jazz training and deep grounding in improvisation to craft expressive performances steeped in nocturnal beauty. A fixture of Melbourne’s live music scene, Margot has appeared at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, The Night Cat, The Toff in Town, and The Curtin, and has performed internationally in Paris at 38 Riv and La Gare Le Gore.
Her voice—described as otherworldly, rich, and haunting—earned her the 2023 Generations in Jazz $10,000 Vocal Scholarship, recognising her artistic excellence. Beyond the stage, her vocal work extends to film, contributing to the soundtrack of MIFF 2023’s Kid Snow, and co-writing and performing the end-credits track for Loin De La Route (Lisbon Film Festival, 2024).
Alongside her vocal work, Margot is a harpist working across contemporary music and dance, contributing to both avant-garde projects and late-night experimental performance contexts. She is currently recording her debut EP, where harp, synthesiser, and voice are delicately arranged into moody, immersive songs.
