Margot Petrie is a French-born, Melbourne-based artist known for her sultry vocals and magnetic on-stage presence. She makes music for the after hours—shadowy, intimate, and quietly devastating. Blending downtempo songwriting with dream-pop, alternative electronic, and trip-hop influences, Margot creates a sound that is dark and immersive and steeped in nocturnal beauty.
A fixture of Melbourne’s live music scene, Margot has appeared at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, The Night Cat, The Toff in Town, and The Curtin with her band Selenic and has performed internationally in Tokyo, Berlin and Paris at 38 Riv and La Gare Le Gore.
Her voice—described as otherworldly and rich —earned her the 2023 Generations in Jazz $10,000 Vocal Scholarship, recognizing her artistic excellence. Beyond the stage, her vocal work extends to film, contributing to the soundtrack of MIFF 2023’s Kid Snow, and co-writing and performing the end-credits track for Loin De La Route (Lisbon Film Festival, 2024).
Alongside her vocal work, Margot is a harpist working across contemporary music and dance, contributing to both avant-garde projects and late-night experimental performance contexts. She is currently recording her debut solo EP.
